It's a fact that I haven't updated this blog in a while. A lot has happened during this time and I figured I would dedicate this post to fill you in on all the details.
Chicago trip
As I may have mentioned before, my parents and I planned a small trip to Chicago to visit an art school I have been interested in for a year now (The Illinois Institute of Art). We were dwelling in the city just a week ago for a few days. It was the first time that I had ever been to Chicago, so it was quite an experience for me. When we took a cab into the loop, the first thing I noticed was the architecture of all of the buildings. I could just see the history behind them. I loved the all around atmosphere of the city. I could do without the traffic though. I couldn't imagine maneuvering my car through traffic during rush hour in that city. I don't have the patience, but bless the people that do. We stayed at Holiday inn. It was connected to the college and the Merchandise Mart so that was convenient. My mom and I did a lot of shopping at the Magnificent Mile. For the first time in my life I experienced H&M and Topshop. I really wish we had those stores closer to home. I spent a lot of time people watching. I know that sounds creepy, but I love seeing how people present themselves. And it's always different everywhere you go. The next couple days were just dedicated to exploring the college. I honestly love it. Their library had every issue of Vogue all the way back to the 1940s. I spent one of my nights just losing myself in those magazine. I feel like I could really see myself going there and enjoying it.
Home sweet home
Being back home seemed like a drag for a while, but I'm okay with it. I'm back, surrounded by the people I love most. I got a new job as soon as I came back from Chicago. I went through my first week of training and it was a nightmare. Waitressing is no walk in the park... especially when all you have is retail experience under your belt. It's a lot to take in at first and I'm hoping that I'll get use to it over time. It's a lot of running around and getting yelled at. The cooks are rude, and the customers can be that way as well. I'm trying to deal with it to the best of my ability though, because it's great money and It saves me the drive. I can literally ride my bike to work. It's been too hot recently though, so that's out of the question. Sometimes we have to go through things in life that we don't necessarily enjoy. I'm going to take it one day at a time and we'll see how it goes from there. Everything besides that though has been good. My internship has been going swell and fashion week is just around the corner. I cannot tell you how excited I am for it. If you're near the Omaha area, you should really come! It's a hell of a show.
