Good friends & good breakfast

March is already keeping me on my feet and there is no stopping. I just returned from a two-day trip with a good friend of mine. We went off to Kansas City for a day to check out an exhibition at the Kemper Museum. It was the first 60+ degree day since last year, so we took full advantage of it walking around downtown in skirts and sunnies. I was thrilled to be able to wear the polkadot skirt I found at The Flying Worm, a vintage shop in Omaha. It's so light and it hits perfectly at the knees.

The majority of yesterday was spent in Perry, IA, in an old building currently being renovated. There were layers of distressed wallpaper on the walls with patches of wood peeking through. Windows were everywhere, even on the ceiling. Every room told a different story and among all of the destruction and debris, there was beauty.

We didn't think twice this morning about going out for breakfast. We went to the City Bakery, located in the East Village of Des Moines. The atmosphere is very modern, chic, and laid back. I had a cheesy omelet and we both split some cheesecake. It was exactly what I needed before I hit the road again. I'm so happy to be back home now. The weekend has left me inspired and I am so thankful.
